This tour was born out of necessity.
You see, in 2006, vocalist Ronnie Radke was the singer for Escape the Fate. He was involved in an altercation in Las Vegas that resulted in the fatal shooting of an18 year-old man. While Radke was not the shooter, he was indicted on battery charges. These charges led to a sentence of five years probation.
When Radke failed to report to his parole officer, he was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison. This was immediately following the release of their debut album, Dying Is Your Latest Fashion, which became an enormously successful album.
Because the album was so successful, his band mates did not want to wait for the two years that Radke would be incarcerated so they replaced him with former Blessthefall vocalist, Craig Mabbitt.
Max Green, bassist of Escape the Fate, stated that Radke's legal problems were preventing the band from touring anywhere. "First we couldn't tour out of the country, then out of the state."
Radke was released on December 12, 2010.
After his release, Radke went on the record to publicly denounce his former band mates for their disloyalty and for disparaging him while he was in prison.
Rakde said, "They make a whole album called This War is Ours, and then they try to say, 'We didn’t name that album after you, dude.' Which in fact, they did. I could be wrong; they could be talking about the war on terrorism or something. I don’t know. But I just have a feeling that record name was about me. They talk a lot of shit. It is always about forgive and forget, but there’s some things that I would like to say. So I did. On the record."
During his time in prison, Radke formed a new band and started creating music with the members upon his release. This band became Falling In Reverse.
For several years, the bands continued to exchange insults and jabs, including through songs. The fans began to take sides and other bands also got involved.
With the birth of Radke's daughter, Willow Grace, as well as a new album, Fashionably Late, to promote, Radke extended an olive branch and proposed a Bury the Hatchet tour. This is a video of Radke and Mabbitt announcing the tour and discussing the past problems:
